Info/Tips Greetings from San Francisco

Hi folks,

landed in San Francisco yesterday, here working for 3 weeks in our local office.

Anyone ever been here? If so, any tips on what I should see or do - if I get any free time?

My sister's best friend moved out here recently and my cousin as well. Marc Flores from MobileCrunch (previously wrote at Boy Genius Report) is also in town, so hopefully I'll meet up with him too.

Spent ages over there, really miss the place. Hire a bike and cycle around. There's a good route over the Golden Gate if the weather's ok. Also some good nights to be had - the Starlight Lounge in the Drake Hotel on Wednesday is (was?) well worth checking out.

As I mentioned, Bang Sang Thai on O'Farrell.

Obviously check out the piers etc, some damn fine Chocolate shops past the end of them. I'll post anything else I think of.

Baseball season hasn't started and American football has finished which just leaves you with Basketball.
Be sure to check out Pier 39.
Alcatraz is worth a visit if it's not too choppy.
Coit Tower will give you stunning views of San Fran
Golden Gate bridge
Be sure to go on an old cable car in San Fran
Union square is good for shopping
Oh and be sure to check out Lombard street, it's that really crazy road with loads of bends and twists

God I miss San Fran, was there 2 years ago to the day. Have a great time Marc

Well it's been a few days so far.

Managed to meet Marc Flores from Mobile Crunch and his girlfried for dinner on Tuesday evening, went up to Fisherman's Wharf for some seafood. Also managed to get to the Apple Store that evening and got a new case for my iPhone 3GS. Walked through/past Union Square a few times as it's a short walk from our office.

Hoping to get some sightseeing done this weekend (work premitting).

Thank you all for the tips so far, I'll try and upload some photos that I've taken soon.

Well you seem to be having fun. Try and get a boat trip across the bay to Sausalito, great place plus you get good photo's of San Fran on the ride back. Also try out the veiwing point on the other side of the Golden Gate bridge at nightime time for good nights views.

As those of you who follow me on Twitter and/or are in the 'Whatmobile' BBM group will know, I did some touring of San Francisco on Saturday. Managed to get down to Pier 39 for lunch at Bubba Gump and to see the sealions too. Walked the whole of Fisherman's Wharf, drove over the Golden Gate Bridge to the viewing station, went to the Lombard 'Crooked' Street, the Palace of Fine Arts (where they filmed a scene from The Rock!), Fort's Mason and Point and also the Legion of Honor. Did try to go to the Tutankhamun exhibition at de Yung Museum yesterday, but it was at capacity by the time I got there.
