task killers do have one purpose - to kill off misbehaving poorly designed apps that don't close down properly. if you have a look in the process manager in Astro, for example, you will see that most of those processes are not actually background processes - they're simply residing in memory and nothing more.
other than that, they shouldn't be used.

no. very few of them become background processes (apps such as "browser" and "market" etc stay in the background), whereas the vast majority of them become inactive(ie not using any CPU time) in cache.

If you have apps sapping power and memory, don't rely on a task killer - remove the app in the first place. Your battery will thank you in the long run!!

I'm not one who usually changes the Default Browser on my phone (especially when it's as good as HTC's browser), but Dolphin HR really does well for me so far.
Must fully try in my books. However it's only for 2.0 & above.

Realplayer is available on the Market... Currently in Beta mode... But looks to be a great app with potential... Just need to sort few issues out with it...

It plays music and videos and also you can view images in it too...

A couple of quick questions.

How do I choose default programmes so I only have one sms/email programme working?

Is there a way to get either the googlemail or standard mail programme on my Desire format emails so they fit nicely like on the iphone?

Or does any other email programme do it?

Cheers!

I'm just using the standard stock SMS and Email programmes...i've used Handcent and ChompSMS but always go back to stock.

On SMS to stop getting stock to work you just go into settings and uncheck all the boxes.

Ive actually done a factory reset this morning and only installled the bare minimum apps as my battery has deteriorated recently.
