Recycle your old phone
Orange signal appalling round here, had to manually search and choose T-Mobile.

Interesting reading this thread, might move the other half over to Three - pretty good signal

Wish it would pick the strongest signal...

Since getting a replacement sim about 10 days ago,my phone has stayed showing T-Mobile/Orange, I've tried selecting T-Mobile manually and it returns to T-Mobile/Orange when set to automatic, is this how it will always be?

Carl,
a couple of times in the past weeks i have had to visit norwich hospital with my daughter.
depending on where i am in the hospital i get a warning that i have left my data zone (data is off at this point) or words to that effect.
i very rarely have my data connection on and only once have i turned on roaming which was while in the hospital car park checking some emails which i couldnt do on tmob so (and i dont know if i was doing this right) i turned on roaming and used orange.
my query is why would my phone notify me every time i leave a tmob signal when for calls it auto switches to orange and data was off.
also is it ok to roam onto orange and is it free.

Mine does the same, originally on T-Mob but now seems to think the Orange signal is home (but my sim is old, somewhere between 5 and 8 years old).

Other way round for me. Home network is Orange but at home it constantly stays on T-Mob 3G.

I think it moves to the strongest *3G* signal on either network. Orange is ok at home for me but the 3G signal is questionable...

I see T-Mobile Orange in town centres, but T-Mobile elsewhere

I'm now on "T-Mobile Orange" when normally I'd only be on "T-Mobile" - phone seems to think this is my "home" network, so I'm not roaming. Switched over earlier tonight mid-way through the CL semi-final (major IM sessions over WiFi, but using the phone pretty constantly so watched it happen). Getting 3.5G on "T-Mobile Orange" also - a quick speedtest suggests 3.3Mbit/s down, 0.4Mbit/s up.

And now, a few hours later, I'm back on regular old "T-Mobile" - a speedtest over 3.5G gets me 6.5Mbit/s down, 2Mbit/s up.

Maybe T-Mobile cell/mast maintenance going on in the area...
