hmmm odd. Vodafone stores should have got a demo model with the ones that are on sale. We got a demo one in the same day but were not allowed to setup until the morning of the 16th of course

Has it?

You're right though, these folk have so little technical or product knowledge its embarrassing. I feel really sorry for the potential customers who look up to them for advice, in fact it's amazing it doesn't get them into trouble for mis-selling. Same applies to operators telephone customer services (all operators are bad like this). Sometimes it has benefit though, a couple of weeks ago when cancelling my Three MiFi contract, as an incentive to stay I was offered an "iPad 3" or a new laptop. Yup, an iPad 3 and I could have it right away. This was before the new iPad announcement.

Had significant battery life problems with mine at home, confirmed on a couple of road trips recently.

Went to Apple store in Westfield Stratford to seek advice.

Was given a new replacement and an apology - pretty good customer service.

Set the new one up as a new iPad rather than from a back-up on iCloud (just in case) and found the new one has much better battery life.

Dunno if it because of the 'new iPad' set up or because the returned one was dud.

Have found iA Writer to a be excellent for taking notes during meetings.
Might invest in a VGA-out connector for presentations.
But Keynote is horrible at 'translating' Powerpoint presentations.

Recent MSFT leaks don't seem to point towards a new version of Office any time soon though - although an iOS version might not necessarily correlate with this roadmap.

Still enthused by the idea of the half-size iPad and this rumour seems to be backed some decent sources including John Gruber.

Seriously considering a new ipad as a replacement for my old-on-its-last-legs iMac. I've got my 120gb iTunes library on an external HD, & besides playing those through my iMac, & web browsing, & iPhoto, I don't really use my iMac & the bigger hard drive for anything else. The portability of the ipad would be great in terms of taking it to the missus' place & to work. Ultimately I'd look at getting a music dock or wireless system I could plug my HD into & control my iTunes library from there.

Only thing I'm not sure about is this tho: How easy is it to use Google services on the ipad? I use Gmail for both home & business email, Chrome, Google+, & Docs/Drive, & occasionally GTalk. Having a Galaxy S2 I suppose I'm spoilt with how everything integrates, would just like to know that there would be no problems or surprises moving to iOS.

Any thoughts? Ideas on wireless network media systems would be handy too, am clueless about such things!

Another question - if I'm looking at using tethering on my 3 One Plan contract, do I still need the "Wi-fi +4g" model?

IF your going to tether you only need wifi....

As for a ipad all on it's own I would say no you still need a PC, the ipad is more for media consumption....

I stupidly had a play with a new iPad yesterday, now I'm beginning to have irrational thoughts of upgrading my iPad 2.

Really need to get sensible about this.

I really love my iPad 3, the display is gorgeous but I wouldn't upgrade from an iPad 2 (I had an iPad 1).

Cheers.

All I use my Mac for is browsing & iTunes tho, plus I can replace my Kindle. Have got the work PC for anything else really.

Just need to work out how to afford one!
